()のついたものの中から間違いを選ぶのですが、答えは(the)でした。何が間違っているんでしょうか？
2. The white pine (is) the most commercially important forest tree in North America until the beginning of the twentieth century.
isは間違いで、wasが正解らしいのです。しかし、untilがある場合はhad beenのほうがいい気がするのですが、had beenはダメなのでしょうか？
3. Electric (milking) machines (have made) dairy (farming) a much easier job than it once (did).
間違いは(did)らしいです。おそらくdidの替わりにhadが正解なのだろうと思うのですが、have madeをmakeにしても良いのではないでしょうか？makeではダメなのでしょうか？
4. Job specialization takes place ____ of production is separated into occupations.
(A) when the work
(B) whenever working
正解は(A)なのですが、なぜ(B)はダメなのでしょうか。
