そうなのですか？ CliffsのVerbal Review for Standerdized Testsの説明と違いますね。参考までにdirectionsを引用：
"If the undderlined part is incorrect, awkward, or ambiguous, you must pick the version that best corrects it and retains the meaning of the originally underlined phrase."

というと、解答は間違えで、答えはＤと？ 私は上の文意でtheyがbuildingsを指すのは明らかに思えましたし、Ｄが正解とは理解しがたいですが。
他の方の意見も聞きたいです。
