数学的にいうとかえってわかりづらいので、ちょっと意訳します
・ある目盛があります。仮にcmの物差しとしましょう。
・-2cmの点からPへの距離は、-2cmから6cmの距離（=8cm）の2倍です
・Pは-2cmより小さいので、-2cmから8cmx2=16cmだけ左のポイントとなり、P=-18cmとなります
