分詞構文の使い方がいまいちクリアでなかったので、文法書を読んでみました。結果を表すだけでなく、2つの出来事の同時性（Aが起きたと同時にBが起きた）を説明することもある、とありましたので、これが選択肢Dが表現していることだったんですね。（Eは、"Aが起きた、その後、Bが起きた"という意味で順序があることを強調）ありがとうございました。
