正解はＤですが、各選択肢の違いがわかりません。whenが1977にかかるのかなと思いますが、確信はないです。
upon the determinationという表現は辞書に見当たらないので、Ｃは違うのかもしれませんが、そういう観点ではこの問題は解けないと思います。


■問題２
The study noted that, up to the present, interferon <had been more impressive in preventing viral infections than in treating> them.

A.同上
B.has been more impressive in preventing viral infections than in treating

正解はＢです。
ＣＤＥはパラレルが明らかに変で切れました。同時にＢも時制の一致を考えて即切りしてしまいました。that内が客観的事実だから現在形でいいのでしょうか？
もしそうだとしたら、意味を取りながら解く必要があるわけでスピード出ないですね。
